College in High School?

Last week, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation donated $40 million in grant money to form 70 "early college" high schools. These schools will allow students to take college-level courses, usually on community college campuses, while still attending high school. Students who part-take in early-college schools are given the chance to graduate with a high school diploma plus two years of college credit, or an associate's degree. These 8 lucky organizations receiving the money over the next five years will have the opportunity to set up new small, urban schools while expanding access to higher education for the student who will go to those schools.
