Quiz Show
Movie Review by: Heather Sahnholtz, Frederick Community College
I enjoyed the movie. The film was about the 1950s game show scandal. I had heard about the scandal but never really knew what happened A contestant, named Herb Stemple who was on the show, was told to answer a question wrong because the ratings were going down. A teacher named Charles Van Doren was another contestant on the show and actually beat Stemple. Van Doren was given answers to the questions before the show aired. He had to live with the guilt of cheating. Stemple is upset and wants to get back at the producers and Van Doren. He gets the government involved but the case is closed; however, it catches the attention of a young, Harvard, lawyer, who decides to investigate more. The movie had suspense but also made you laugh. There were many puns, plays on words, and foreshadowing in the movie. The movie made me think what would I do for money. If I were in the character's shoes would I cheat to get the green?
