Remember
the Titans
Movie Review by: Cecilia Rubiera, Frederick Community College
Back in 1971, high school football domainted the town of Alexandria, Virginia. Locals schools were forced to integrate schools and decided to hire a new head coach of the TC Williams Titans, who happened to be an African-American man, Herman Boone. He faced many obstacles in the start of his career like having to get along with the white former head coach and they had to work together to mold the teenage boys into men while teaching them at the same time. Their friendship and determination was crossed with a town torn by prejudice, racism, and ignorance. Based on a true story, the team comes together through a long, slow process of putting behind them the values and morals they grew up with. With a boatload of academy winning actors who put on an outstanding performace in this powerful, heartwarming story that brings a whole comunity to run around despite their ignorant, prejudged opinions.
