Welcome to Sadker.com

Let's face it, most of you who have visited this page are already part of a community exploring teaching, and most if not all of us are reading Teachers, Schools and Society. That's why we have created sadker.com: despite the physical distance that separates us, we want to create a community. So for those of you who appreciate the advice and insights of others, and for those who want to stay in touch with news stories and current teaching issues, we have created this e-community right here at sadker.com.

On this site we will post and continually update several features we hope you enjoy and find useful. The following are features of the site that I'd like to highlight:

  • Media of the Month will feature a description of a new movie, television show, helpful website or insightful article about teaching and schooling.

  • Listservs will connect you to a variety of groups concerned about many different school issues, from middle school education to educational equity. If you choose to sign up, you will find a wealth of knowledge and insights from others about these important topics.

  • Newslinks connect you with educational newspapers and magazines to keep you up-to-date on what's going on in schools.

  • Reel to Real Teaching offers each of you the opportunity to become critics and review the videos and movies described in Teachers, Schools and Society. You can help others decide which education-related videos to rent or movies to see.

  • From the Author offers me the opportunity to let off some steam or put a spotlight on an educational issue I feel strongly about. It is a way of constantly updating the textbook without making people pay to buy a new one. (And given the price of books, just the money you save is reason enough to read my column!)

I hope sadker.com adds to your enjoyment and learning!
