There are four main rules to follow when you check your writing for
special verb problems.
1. Include helping verbs, as needed, before main verbs. Helping
verbs are used to create special tenses.
But: She will participate in the marathon.
Not: I been to the river and seen the flooding
But: I have been to the river and have seen the flooding.
Not: If he run, the police would caught him.
But: If he had run, the police would hare caught him.
Not: They arrested for selling cigarettes to minors.
But: They were arrested for selling cigarettes to minors.
Not: Mark going to Alaska this spring
But: Mark is going to Alaska this spring
