Using Adjectives and Adverbs Correctly

ADJECTIVES

Using and placing adjectives can be easy if you observe these three
rules:

1. When using a noun as an adjective, keep the adjective
singular even if the noun it describes is plural.

Not:     They own two liquors stores.

But:     They own two liquor stores.

2. Place adjectives before, not after, nouns.

Not:     My neighbors bought a car large and green.

But:     My neighbors bought a large green car.

3. When using adjectives in a series, follow this order:

Determiner/ Article Quality Side Age Shape
a fine small old oval
Participle Color Origin Noun Noun
handwoven blue Persian wool rug
