  1. An aside: Most professionals should probably try to avoid referring to online writing centers as “labs,” because of the stigma of using the same sorts of medical language prominent in the literature of the 1970s (see Mike Rose’s works below for further explanation).
  2. Recently, Selfe forwarded a listserv, which I belong to, an interesting article he found reflecting on the recent tragic events in New Orleans following the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He noted, while the physical educational, domestic, and governmental infrastructures had collapsed, the technological infrastructures of the surrounding public schools had survived. Judge for your self by reading the Chronicle of Higher Education Online’s take on the situation: But, note that there was “no loss of critical data.”
