A. The Center for International and European Law on Immigration and Asylum, which is organized through the University of Konstanz, offers some interesting facts on its web site. Find out more about applicants for political asylum (Asylbewerber) in Germany.

Schritt 2: Click on "German site" to enter.

Schritt 3: Now click on "Publikationen".

Schritt 4: Under "Statistiken", click on "Deutschland".

Schritt 5: Now click on "Asylbewerber 1998".
The page that you will enter contains all the information you need to answer the following questions.

1. How many foreigners applied for asylum in Germany in 1998?

2. Compared to the previous year, is that number increasing, decreasing or constant?

3. Which country did most of the applicants come from?

Schritt 6: The number of applicants from some countries is increasing while that of others is decreasing. Mark each country of origin as having an increasing (steigend) or decreasing (fallend) number of emigrants to Germany.
