1. Describe the location and character of early French colonization in North America.
2. Contrast the founding of the Puritan colonies in New England and the middle colonies, including a definition of a proprietary colony.
3. Explain why the early New England colonies were characterized by greater social stability than both the southern and middle colonies.
4. Explain the ways in which the legacy of the Reformation shaped the settlement of Puritan New England, Quaker Pennsylvania, and French Canada.
5. Compare and contrast relations between white settlers and Indians in New England, the Middle Colonies, and French Canada and, referring to Chapter 2, in the South and the Spanish Southwest as well.
6. Explain the significance of the Glorious Revolution in America.
