  4. Describe the role of physiological and peripheral factors in hunger, and discuss the importance of external cues, self-control and exercise in regulating hunger.
  5. Describe hormonal and cultural factors that are involved in sexual arousal.
  6. List and describe the four phases of the human sexual response cycle.
  7. Describe the changes that have occurred over the last several decades in sexual attitudes and behavior.
  8. Compare and contrast the traditional religious script, the romantic sexual script, and the double standard.
  9. Discuss the results of research into the factors that determine an individual's sexual orientation.
  10. Discuss sexual dysfunctions and their treatments.
  11. List and describe the paraphilia.
  12. Describe the results of research regarding rape and sexual harassment.
  13. Distinguish between competence motivation and achievement motivation.
  14. Explain the following, regarding achievement: attribution theory, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and goal-setting and planning.
  15. Discuss cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic variations in achievement.
  16. Define emotion.
  17. Explain the four dimensions of Plutchik's classification of emotions.
  18. Distinguish between positive and negative affectivity, and discuss the research on the emotions of happiness and anger.
  19. Distinguish between the James-Lange and the Cannon-Bard theories of emotion.
  20. Discuss the role of cognition in emotions.
  21. Explain the relationship between emotions and physiology.
  22. Discuss the issues surrounding the use of polygraph tests.
  23. Describe sociocultural influences on emotion.
  24. Define and describe emotional intelligence.
