This past April, thirty Psychology faculty members from
around the country took part in our inaugural PRISM Conference in Baltimore,
Maryland. This exciting new approach to professional development is designed
for faculty at both four-year and community colleges, whose primary goal is
teaching. Participants immersed themselves in workshops and hands-on activities
tailored to help them update their knowledge and teaching skills, as well as
participated in an exchange of their best teaching ideas.
The seminars were moderated by renowned McGraw-Hill authors and faculty. The
program consisted of principles and ideas that were developed at the previous
two PRISM events held at Prince George Community College. The general focus
of the Baltimore conference was on teaching strategies and technology. "Hands-On"
technology and skills-based sessions provided an opportunity to gain valuable
computer experience in a supportive and collaborative environment.
"I was proud to be associated with PRISM and PRISM II. The conference was a real class act. Thank you for pulling it all off with style and flair." --Sherry Kinslow (Prince George's Community College, MD.)
"Just a short note to tell you that my participant had a wonderful time at the conference. Mark Hamlin from the Univ. of Central Oklahoma raved about the wonderful people and ideas that he got at the meeting. He's already talking about attending next year. Keep up the great work." --Kelly Ryan (McGraw-Hill Sales Representative: Edmond, OK)
"I just wanted to thank you, McGraw-Hill, for presenting a very successful and beneficial workshop (in Baltimore) for my professors. Tom Beecroft (Hagerstown CC) and Cheryl Blackman (Bowie State) went on and on about McGraw-Hill's people and products; they were so impressed! They specifically commented on how nice folks were and the steps you all took to make everyone feel comfortable…" --Maureen Gaylord (McGraw-Hill Sales Representative: St. Louis, MO.)
"Many thanks again for the conference provided, which was immeasurable in terms of information, experience, social contacts, and delight in learning. McGraw-Hill put together an outstanding program with the PRISM "founders." I've already told my dept. colleagues that someone from our dept. should attend PRISM every year, it's the most useful and invaluable teaching conference I've EVER attended..." --Ann Weber (UNC at Asheville, NC)
"I was only able to attend Friday's
session, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I learned a lot and immediately used what
I had learned from the Power Point session to make several slides for class…"
--Fran Spencer (Towson University, MD.)
