  5. Compare and contrast Selye’s model of stress with the psychological view.
  6. Describe the relationship between stress and the immune system.
  7. List the various life events that are likely to induce stress.
  8. Identify individual differences that can influence health, as well as the potential problems in considering personality as a protection against stress and illness.
  9. Describe and give examples of the two general patterns of coping with stress.
  10. Describe and give examples of specific coping strategies, and discuss the effectiveness of each.
  11. Define emotional venting, and evaluate its usefulness as a stress-reduction technique.
  12. Describe the various kinds of social support, and discuss their effectiveness.
  13. Describe and evaluate the stress management techniques involved in the cognitive-behavioral therapies: biofeedback, relaxation training, and exercise.
  14. Compare and contrast the physiological and psychological explanations for anorexia nervosa.
