For Mac:

Macintosh System 9

Turn off CD Auto-Play

Download the application.

Double-click the file.

To Install the Program in Mac OS X, versions 10.2.8 and later

      Turn off iTunes auto-play

      1. If you do not do this, do not expect the software to respond properly. Figuratively speaking, your computer and ChartPlayer will fight for control of the CD. The results are unpredictable.

        • On the Apple Menu choose System Preferences.

        • Click on CDs & DVD's.

        • Set When You Insert a Music CD to "Ignore."

        • Close the System Preferences.

      2. Download the application for OS X

      3. Double-click the installer icon.

      4. The installer will create a virtual disk on your desktop called "Ferris 6th Edition."

      5. Double-click the virtual disk and drag the folder inside into your Applications folder.

      6. If you desire, open the ChartPlayer folder and drag the Ferris ChartPlayer icon to the dock to create an icon for the program on the dock.

For Windows:

Turn off CD Auto-insert Notification.

Download the application.

Double-click the file.

Computers with two CD-ROMs: This usually occurs when one CD-ROM drive is a rewritable device.

  1. Choosing which CD-ROM to use.
    • Problem:
      • Your computer will access one of the CD-ROMs first depending on the configuration of your computer.
      • If the audio CD is not placed in the CD-ROM that is accessed first, a message stating that there is no CD in the drive will appear.
    • Solution
      • Use the CD-ROM that is configured to be accessed first for the audio CD. Trial and error is the best method for determining which CD-ROM drive will work.
      • Disconnect or turn off the second CD-ROM drive temporarily while using this software.
        • Windows users may disconnect one CD-ROM in the settings section of the control panel for that CD-ROM.
        • External CD-ROMs may simply be turned off.
