Senator John F. Kennedy and Vice President Richard M. Nixon:
Presidential Debate (New York City, October 21, 1960)

Listening to the debate, both candidates argue eloquently. It is hard to believe that although Nixon won the debate with radio listeners, television viewers were persuaded more by Kennedy's composure and charm, compared to the haggard and uncomfortable looking Nixon, causing Kennedy to win by a landslide.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt:
Inaugural Address (Washington, D.C., January 20, 1937)

FDR created several federally funded programs, such as the WPA and TVA, providing temporary thousands of jobs for the unemployed during the Great Depression, as well as more permanent institutions such as the FDIC and Social Security Program, Welfare and Minority aid in order to offer support and insurance for citizens during this difficult time. Such legislation invested the Federal Government with the faith of its citizens and enhanced centralized power over its component states.
