The CD-ROM to accompany Entrevistas provides a variety of vocabulary, grammar, and cultural activities in an engaging, easy-to-use format. Interactive exercises, video clips, audio, and voice recording capability bring the study of Spanish to a new level in this cross-platform program.

Main Menu

The Main Menu contains buttons for all 15 lessons of the CD-ROM, which correspond to the 15 chapers of the textbook. Click on the chapter number to access the lesson for that chapter. Also available on the Main Menu screen is access to the McGraw-Hill Electronic Language Tutor (MHELT) program, which offers additional tutorial vocabulary and grammar practice for Entrevistas, and a direct link to the Entrevistas website, which provides additional resources and activities for instructors and students.

The main Chapter Menu for each lesson contains the following features:

A primera vista

View a Video presenting the countries of the Spanish-speaking world. Visit Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain and other countries. Take the Prueba cultural, a quiz to test your knowledge of the local culture. In Señas de identidad, complete a cultural activity that treats issues of personal, social, and national identity.

Parte 1 & Parte 2

¡Rélampago! Vocabulario rápido. These flashcard activities review and practice vocabulary presented in the textbook. With the click of a button (E/I), you can switch from Spanish to English or English to Spanish. Clicking Escuchar allows you to hear and practice the pronunciation of the new words and phrases.

Juegos de práctica. Various games and activities provide an engaging format for reviewing vocabulary and grammar. For example, drag vocabulary items to their correct location in a drawing, or identify the word that doesn’t belong in the group.

Entrevistas. Watch a video interview with a native Spanish-speaker (Escucha), then participate in your own interview and record your responses (Contesta). Previewing activities help you prepare to watch the video clip (Prepárate). You can also access the videoscript while watching the video (Leer el texto).

Lectura

This section presents a brief reading passage in Spanish in addition to various comprehension activities and tasks. Readings include newspaper articles and advertisements, letters, recipes, and restaurant reviews.

A ti te toca

It’s your turn to try your hand at writing a composition in this section, using the suggestions provided in the Modelo. You can save your composition (Guardar) and print it out (Imprimir). Visit the Entrevistas website (WWW) to do some research for your composition!

Additional Features

Help	A Help button located in the upper right-hand corner of every screen provides useful information about buttons, features, and general navigation of the CD-ROM.

Acentos	This feature allows you to insert special characters when writing in Spanish.

Verbos	This section provides verb charts for the main verb tenses and moods in Spanish.

Diccionario	The dictionary contains the vocabulary used in the CD-ROM. You can click on the hotlinked words to hear and practice their pronunciation in Spanish.

WWW	Clicking on this button will automatically launch your browser and connect you to the *Entrevistas* Website, provided that your computer is connected to the Internet.

Quit	The Quit button in the lower right-hand corner of every screen allows you to exit the program at any time.
