Writer Helps

"Writers have an entirely different set of problems than speakers. When you are speaking, people are reacting to you as the message occurs. For writers, reaction from their audience is unusual and they have no way of knowing if they have pleased or offended someone, or if they have even communicated their ideas. This means that words must be chosen very carefully. Also, they have time to go over their words, polish their phrases, and check their grammar. . . . If the words they choose don't work, their attempt at communication fails." (Hybels & Weaver, Communicating Effectively, p. 103)
