3 Days/Wk
This course syllabus is designed for a three-hours-per-week, one-semester course with twenty-four to twenty-six students. It contains the four units most applicable to students from a wide variety of academic majors: Introduction to Interviewing, Informational Interviewing, Persuasive Interviewing, and Employment Interviewing.
The employment interviewing unit is last because students should be introduced to all interviewing principles relevant to the employment situation before studying and taking part in practice interviews. We discuss information getting, information giving, and the elements of persuasive interviewing first because all of these roles are played when taking part in employment interviews as either employer or applicant. The employment interview, then, is the culmination of all that has been learned during the semester.
The quizzes in the syllabus are used for class discussion and analysis. They are not graded quizzes.
