Search for Knowledge
The Microsoft Knowledge Base is an excellent example of an online expert system. You can use it to obtain technical support and answer questions about any Microsoft product. To access the Microsoft Knowledge Base, visit the Microsoft Web site at http://www.microsoft.com/
and then click the Support option; then click Knowledge
Base. You may need to register to use the Knowledge
Base. If so, the process takes only a few minutes and
requires only a user name and password, and it is also
free.
Using this expert system, you can select a Microsoft product (such as Windows
98 or Microsoft Excel), select a method for searching the knowledge base (by
keywords, for example), and specify a keyword (such as printing) or type a free-text
question (such as How do I print charts in landscape mode?). Search for information
on at least two Microsoft products. What type of response did you get from the
system?
