c h a p t e r 2 Graphical Summaries of Data Introduction Are cars becoming more fuel efficient? Increasing prices of gasoline, along with concerns about the environment, have made fuel efficiency an important concern. To determine whether recently built cars are getting better mileage than older cars, we will compare the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency highway mileage ratings for model year 2009 cars with the mileages for model year 2000 cars. The following tables present the results, in miles per gallon.
